As the mystery behind Web-Head begins to unravel, this new hero has already shown off her own unique powers and abilities, along with a striking super hero costume.
Let’s break down Web-Head’s recent adventures as she firmly establishes herself as New York’s latest friendly neighborhood web-slinger. Here is everything you need to know about Web-Head, from her secret identity to her connection to Spider-Man, as she takes center stage in ASTONISHING SPIDER-MAN INFINITY COMIC (2024) #12 by Scott Aukerman and Julian Shaw.
WHO IS WEB-HEAD?
Web-Head is the costumed alter ego of Lynda Locke, who met Peter Parker through a blind date. Unbeknownst to Peter, Lynda has powers and a secret identity of her own. As Agent Locke, she works for a clandestine organization that sends her on various missions around New York at a moment’s notice. Lynda bears more than a passing resemblance to Peter’s longtime friend and ex-girlfriend Mary Jane Watson with her long red hair and freckles—something that Peter noticed immediately.
For her costume, Lynda puts on a dark-haired wig and wears a purple-and-black suit, complete with additional metal arms like Spider-Man’s Iron Spider costume. The full extent of Lynda’s powers, including how she got them, currently remains a mystery, as does the identity of her shadowy employers. However, Lynda is genuinely inspired by and interested in Spider-Man, even going so far as to base her costume design on his.
POWERS AND ABILITIES
Web-Head shares some major powers and abilities with Spider-Man, including heightened strength and speed, as well as the ability to cling to walls. Web-Head can also generate webs from the tips of the metal arms protruding from the back of her costume. She utilizes a set of weapons and gadgets, including a sidearm and a wrist communicator that she uses to stay in contact with her employers.
Among Web-Head’s more unique powers are the Hypno-Blast and the Toxin Kick, both of which she used in her introductory battle against the monstrous Creature X. The Toxin Kick is a powerful blow, which Spider-Man immediately observed was significantly stronger than any of his usual punches and kicks. Meanwhile, the Hypno-Blast is a concentrated burst of psionic energy that Web-Head uses to soundly dispatch her opponents.
WEB-HEAD’S FIRST APPEARANCE
In SPIDER-MAN UNLIMITED INFINITY COMIC (2023) #39, Lynda debuted in her civilian identity when she met Peter for their blind date in Staten Island. Lynda recognized Peter from his brief stint as the tech entrepreneur behind the failed corporate venture Parker Industries. Their lukewarm date ended with the sudden appearance of a rampaging monster, Creature X. Lynda came up with a flimsy excuse to flee the scene before Peter could.
Lynda made her super hero debut in SPIDER-MAN UNLIMITED INFINITY COMIC (2023) #40, attacking Creature X just as Spider-Man peacefully convinced the monster to stand down. As a result, Spider-Man’s spider sense went haywire, temporarily incapacitating him and leaving Web-Head to fend for herself.
To take Creature X down, Lynda unleashed her Hypno-Blast. After the Thing arrived on the scene to take Creature X away, Lynda overheard him call Spider-Man “web-head” and decided to use it as her super hero moniker.
WEB-HEAD’S CONTINUING ADVENTURES
As revealed by her communication with her employers following her battle with Creature X, Web-Head was ordered to capture and transport the monster to them for unknown purposes. Ultimately, she failed this mission due to Spider-Man and the Thing.
Following this, Lynda and Peter resumed their date, completely unaware that they had just teamed up against Creature X. In maintaining their respective secret identities, Peter and Lynda both privately considered each other boring, but eventually agreed to a second date.
Web-Head made her big return in ASTONISHING SPIDER-MAN INFINITY COMIC (2024) #6, where she finally managed to subdue Creature X and bring it in for her employer. With Peter and Lynda embarking on their next date in ASTONISHING SPIDER-MAN INFINITY COMIC (2024) #12, the couple may not be as mismatched as they initially believed—in their alter egos, at least!
Whenever Peter Parker and Lynda Locke go, Spider-Man and Web-Head are sure to follow, even as Web-Head’s origins and motivations remain shrouded in mystery… for now.
