The Best Moments from 'Avengers Academy: Marvel's Voices'

To celebrate 'Avengers Academy: Marvel's Voices,' revisit fan-favorite moments like the Escapade's epic battle with Emplate, Teen Immortus' scheme to fix the timestream, and more.

The next generation of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes took the Marvel Universe by storm in AVENGERS ACADEMY: MARVEL’S VOICES INFINITY COMIC (2024) by Anthony Oliveira, Carola BorelliPablo Collar, and Bailie Rosenlund. The Infinity Comic series brought Aaron Fischer’s Captain AmericaKid JuggernautEscapadeBloodlineRed GoblinMoon Girl, and Devil Dinosaur together under the guidance of Captain Marvel and other veteran icons, who helped them evolve both as individual super heroes and a team. As the series draws to a close with its milestone 60th issue, let’s celebrate the series with some fan-favorite moments that highlight the impact this new generation left on the Marvel Universe.

WELCOME TO AVENGERS ACADEMY

The first issue of AVENGERS ACADEMY: MARVEL’S VOICES shone a spotlight on the academy’s newest student: Justin Jin, AKA Kid Juggernaut. After recruiting Justin, Captain Marvel personally gave him the tour of his new school and delivered the empowering mission statement of this new Avengers Academy. Justin also learned about the Academy’s superposition, which allows the campus to exist in multiple locations at once, be it in the heart of New York City or the untamed wilds of the Savage Land.

As far as debuts go, AVENGERS ACADEMY: MARVEL’S VOICES INFINITY COMIC (2024) #1 really excelled at laying out the story’s unique place in the Marvel Universe. Justin’s wide-eyed introduction to the school also culminated in his first meeting with Aaron Fischer, the Captain America of the Railways and someone who became very important to Justin’s life moving forward. A bold opening that celebrates the entirety of the Marvel Universe while hinting at its future, Justin’s tour of Avengers Academy effectively set the tone for the series.

SHOWDOWN WITH THE SINISTER SIX

The first real test for the Avengers Academy students involved their own iteration of the super villain team known as the Sinister Six. Led by juvenile genius Calvin Cuttle, AKA Squid Kid, this team sought to steal corporate secrets from targets like Oscorp and Alchemax for their own gain. Calvin held a particularly deep grudge against Lunella Lafayette, the fellow scientific prodigy who foiled his earliest attempt at villainy.

The confrontation between both young teams came to a head in AVENGERS ACADEMY: MARVEL’S VOICES INFINITY COMIC (2024) #12 as the heroes raided the villains’ secret hideout. Though Calvin initially appeared to outsmart his opponents, he didn’t count on Mysteriant working against him after striking up a romance with Aaron Fischer. This, combined with the Avengers Academy students’ impressive teamwork in the field, led to the Sinister Six’s downfall.

SHELA SEXTON’S TRIUMPHANT LAST STAND

Thanks to her mutant power to physically switch locations or abilities with individuals of her choice, Shela Sexton may just be the most powerful student at Avengers Academy. Because of this, Shela found herself targeted by the magical super villain Emplate, who sought to use her powers to escape from the pocket dimension that imprisoned him. This confrontation came to a head in AVENGERS ACADEMY: MARVEL’S VOICES INFINITY COMIC (2024) #19 as Emplate attacked the entire assemblage of young heroes.

Just as all hope seemed lost, Shela Sexton stepped up to showcase her powers like never before, not only saving her friends but defeating the powerful enemy on her own. Shela stacked her switching powers, accumulating powers from all her fellow heroes while removing their injuries. Using the combined strength of her classmates, Shela vanquished Emplate, but she ended up recuperating for a long period of time due to the battle’s incredible toll.

PICKING UP THE PIECES

Most of the students at Avengers Academy have experienced a fair bit of trauma in their lives—a common burden among those who choose to observe great responsibility with their great powers. One hero who’s had it particularly rough is Ken Mack, the metallic superhero known as Mettle, who got left feeling low and haunted by his painful past in AVENGERS ACADEMY: MARVEL’S VOICES INFINITY COMIC (2024) #20. Fortunately, becoming an Avenger means never being alone, even when the fight involves one’s personal demons.

Lunella Lafayette, the team’s resident tech genius who shares a telepathic bond with Devil Dinosaur, saved Mettle from going too far with his attempted beachside getaway. Carol Danvers offered her own sage wisdom to the fledgling hero, as she’s no stranger to overcoming pain and trauma despite her status as one of the Marvel Universe’s strongest heroes. This interlude really captured the heart of the team, in a rare quiet moment that showed how the students of Avengers Academy have already learned its most valuable lesson of helping those in need.

THE ENCHANTRESS’ REVENGE

After the Enchantress tried to charm Kid Juggernaut in AVENGERS ACADEMY: MARVEL’S VOICES INFINITY COMIC (2024) #31, she decided to get magical revenge on him for Valentine’s Day. Expanding her vendetta to the entirety of Avengers Academy, the Enchantress cast a spell that made all those affected speak their true thoughts. Given the nature of the holiday, this led to several moments between the young heroes that range from hilariously awkward to heartbreakingly vulnerable.

Unfolding in AVENGERS ACADEMY: MARVEL’S VOICES INFINITY COMIC (2024) #33, plenty of students came clean with how they feel about each other. Whether it’s Normie Osborn and Lunella Lafayette admitting how much their friendship means to them or Ken Mack and Jennifer "Hazmat" Takeda confessing their love for each other, hijinks ensued before the enchantment eventually wore off. Love is always in the air at Avengers Academy, but the Enchantress made it a whole lot messier.

THE CROSS-TIME CAPER

The Cross-Time Caper scattered the young heroes across the past and future for one of Avengers Academy’s most epic adventures. Starting in AVENGERS ACADEMY: MARVEL’S VOICES INFINITY COMIC (2024) #35, Kid Juggernaut and Captain America of the Railways found themselves stranded in World War II, where they met Justin’s grandfather, another wielder of Cyttorak’s power. Moon Girl and Red Goblin ended up in a dystopian future, where they engaged in a showdown with Normie Osborn’s older self, while Escapade and Bloodline encountered a young Loki in ancient Asgard.

The Cross-Time Caper reached its time-bending conclusion in AVENGERS ACADEMY: MARVEL’S VOICES INFINITY COMIC (2024) #42, which revealed the proceedings as the machinations of Teen Immortus. The young heroes inadvertently joined an elaborate scheme to fix the timestream, albeit not without them having to overcome their troubled legacies and self-doubts in the process. A sweeping saga in the finest time travel tradition, the Cross-Time Caper showed just how capable the Avengers Academy students have become since they joined the school.

ONE WORLD UNDER DOOM

After seizing the title of Sorcerer Supreme, Doctor Doom plunged the Marvel Universe into ONE WORLD UNDER DOOM (2025). Given Victor Von Doom’s growing reach around the globe, it was only a matter of time before Avengers Academy came to his attention, and Doom finally came knocking in AVENGERS ACADEMY: MARVEL’S VOICES INFINITY COMIC (2024) #43. After a showdown with the devilish Mephisto, Avengers Academy had welcomed his son Blackheart to their cohort, which put the school on Doom’s radar.

Blaming Mephisto for the damnation of his mother’s soul, Doom sought his vengeance by targeting Blackheart, leading the rest of Avengers Academy to get involved. Though severely outmatched by the sinister Sorcerer Supreme, the students rallied around their friend in the ultimate show of solidarity despite the odds. Appeased and still undefeated, Doom took his leave of Blackheart and the young heroes in AVENGERS ACADEMY: MARVEL’S VOICES INFINITY COMIC (2024) #45, proving that these students can face the ultimate villainous power and still live to tell the tale.

STILT-MAN’S DARING HEIST

As a Captain America, Aaron naturally carries his own variation of the shield made famous by Steve Rogers. While the Avengers Academy students prepared for an eagerly anticipated movie night, including a “totally platonic” helping of nachos, the school found itself under attack by another legacy villain. Stilt-Man—a young super villain who took up a mantle with an extensive history in the Marvel Universe—struck when no one expected and made off with Aaron’s Captain America shield while the students were distracted.

The young Stilt-Man quickly realized he was in over his head and became overwhelmed while trying to make his getaway. The height-adjusting crook learned the hard way what happens when you try to cross Avengers Academy when he found himself face-to-face with the entire team. Unfolding in AVENGERS ACADEMY: MARVEL’S VOICES INFINITY COMIC (2024) #50, this moment also served as a comical punctuation to the continuing will-they/won’t-they tension between Aaron and Justin.
