'Magik' #3 Preview Introduces Liminal, Illyana Rasputina's New Demonic Rival
Get a first look at 'Magik' #3 and learn more about Liminal, the demonic entity behind mutant disappearances.
In MAGIK (2025) by Ashley Allen and Germán Peralta, Illyana Rasputina trots the globe, following a trail of mutant-hunting demons. At the end of MAGIK #2, this path led her into the clutches of Liminal, the leader of these demons. But who or what is Liminal? And what does this demonic villain want with Magik?
In MAGIK #3, fans will better understand this new rival as Magik comes face-to-face with Liminal. The preview for the next issue opens with Illyana bolting across Liminal’s domain, swinging her sword as she tries her best to survive. The mystical powerhouse strikes her new foe, with Magik delivering a brutal blow to Liminal’s outer shell. Unfazed, the demonic leader then fixes his face.
"Liminal refers to a stage of transition – which is why he is a perfect foil for Illyana in this first arc," explains Allen. "The two share quite a few similarities that will be revealed in MAGIK #3 and this will force Illyana to confront aspects of her past that she has tried to suppress.
"Being forced to grow into something unwanted – a forced ascension of humanity in a way – is an idea central to Illyana and we get to play around with those concepts with Liminal. I can’t wait for fans to get to know our villain!"
