Daniel Sousa: 6 Favorite Moments from 'Marvel's Agent Carter'

Catch Agent Sousa in Season 7 of 'Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.'

The S.H.I.E.L.D. worlds are colliding! Or, rather, the S.H.I.E.L.D. and SSR worlds are. When Season 7 of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. kicks off, we’re going to see a familiar agent that we haven’t seen in quite some time: Daniel Sousa. Enver Gjokaj is reprising his role as Agent Sousa from Marvel’s Agent Carter for the final season of S.H.I.E.L.D., and we’re excited to watch him help save the day once again!

Ahead of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 7, now’s a great time to take a look back at some of Sousa’s best moments on Marvel’s Agent Carter. All 18 episodes of the series are currently streaming on Disney+, and here are just a handful of moments that made us root for Sousa all the way.

Sousa Stands up for Peggy

Almost right away, we learn that Sousa is looking out for Peggy Carter any way he can. After the other male agents dismiss her at the SSR, Sousa calls them out over being disrespectful. While Peggy certainly appreciates the gesture, she tells him to stop doing it. Sousa obliges but also reaffirms that no matter what — big or small in the SSR — he’s still got her back.

When Sousa Saves the Day (And New York City)

Season 1 of the series revolves around trying to track down many of Howard Stark’s stolen experiments, and Sousa has a huge hand in saving everyone and the city. In order to fight off mind control powers from Leviathan’s Johann Fennhoff, Sousa has the idea to wear earplugs. So simple! This is what fools Fennhoff into thinking that he really does have Sousa under his control, and leads Sousa to overpower him in the end.

When Sousa Gets Frustrated Trying to Defend Peggy

It’s clear that Peggy does not need a man to defend her whatsoever, but that doesn’t stop Sousa from trying every single time. It’s clear that he just wants Peggy to get the recognition she deserves, which is honestly very sweet of him. After Agent Thompson gets all the praise for stopping Fennhoff, Sousa storms away saying that he’s going to make sure everyone knows that the thanks belong to her (this is also what leads Peggy to say her perfect line of, “I know my value” but that’s a different story for another time).

Sousa’s Proposal to Violet

Sousa and Peggy shippers might want to look away for this one. After his fresh start in Los Angeles, Sousa meets and starts dating Violet, a nurse. Their relationship is going great until Peggy shows up, but that still doesn’t stop Sousa from proposing to Violet. The big plans he had to do it quickly goes out the window, and he’s left fumbling around trying to find the ring for Violet in the couch cushions. It’s sweet and intimate for the two of them, and of course, Violet says yes to Sousa. How could you not??

Sousa’s Dance Number

No, that’s not really Enver Gjokaj singing, but that is him dancing in the Season 2 episode, “A Little Song and Dance.” Peggy has a dream sequence where she sings and dances through her feelings for both Sousa and scientist Jason Wilkes. It’s hard not to root for (and also fall in love with) Sousa during the whole number.

Sousa and Peggy’s First Kiss

It’s all been leading to this, and at the end of Season 2 it finally happens — Sousa and Peggy share their first kiss! With the Zero Matter incident finally behind them, Peggy technically no longer reports to Sousa, and Sousa has called off his engagement to Violet. After Sousa starts (jokingly) criticizing Peggy’s handling of the Zero Matter case, she stops him in his tracks with a big kiss. Finally!
