Anu's eldest daughter, Ereshkigal (Allatu in Babylon; aka Queen of the Great Below), the goddess of the underworld, lives in a palace at Ganzir, the doorway to Irkalla, the land of the dead. Ganzir is guarded by seven gates, each bolted an guarded by a porter. When the god Nergal was banished to Irkalla, Ereshkigal became his wife and allowed him to share the rule of the underworld. Ereshkigal maintains rule of Irkalla and in recent years participated in a brief death god alliance that prematurely summoned Demogorge to slaughter the modern pantheons. The demon
Allatou, a member of Satan's court, is married to the demon Nergal; it is speculated that Ereshkigal maintained her prominence and avoided demon degeneration by either expelling her demonic aspects as Allatou or by trading her husband and Babylonian name to the demon who would become Allatou. Ereshkigal should not be confused with the
Deviant of the same name.
