‘Avengers: Armageddon’ #1 Preview Teases the Roster of Heroes Clashing with Red Hulk

Get a first look at the upcoming issue and learn more about which heroes will assemble in the pages of ‘Avengers: Armageddon’ #1.

Avengers Assemble.

AVENGERS: ARMAGEDDON by acclaimed writer Chip Zdarsky and rising artists Frank Alpizar and Delio Diaz promises to shake up Earth’s Mightiest Heroes in ways unseen since 2004’s Avengers: Disassembled. Following the fall of Doctor Doom and key developments in Zdarsky’s Captain America (2025) run, Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross, A.K.A the Red Hulk, plants his flag over Latveria. Now, in AVENGERS: ARMAGEDDON #1, the Red Hulk’s monstrous shadow looms large over the Marvel Universe.

AVENGERS: ARMAGEDDON #1 assembles a wide roster of heroes to stop the Red Hulk’s rampage and prevent a global conflict from escalating further. Enter Iron Man, Captain Marvel, Captain America, Wolverine, the Fantastic Four, Namor, Winter Soldier, David Colton, and more! Read on to learn what Armageddon architect Chip Zdarsky said (and didn’t say) about this explosive new era for Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.

Witness Earth’s Mightiest Heroes assemble once more in the AVENGERS: ARMAGEDDON #1 preview below!

MARVEL.COM: You’ve been building up to this story in the pages of Captain America and Wolverine: Weapons of Armageddon. What can you tell us about the inciting incident that brings everything together in Avengers: Armageddon?

ZDARSKY: Nothing! God, you’re so greedy.

MARVEL.COM: Tell us a bit more about the roster of heroes you’re working with. Was there anyone you were particularly excited to write in Avengers: Armageddon?

ZDARSKY: I mean, it’s a lot of heroes! I always love writing Namor, especially when he’s indignant. But it’s been a treat to write Carol more as I haven’t had much of a chance over the years. Also, I loved him before, but after writing Wolverine: Weapons of Armageddon, I’m addicted to Logan’s voice.

MARVEL.COM: Why was Red Hulk the right antagonist for the story you’re telling here?

ZDARSKY: I mean, it’s a Hulk with the tactical ability of a U.S. General and some deep-seated trauma from imprisonment in a foreign country. There’s a lot to play with there, and right now, General Ross has some very specific ideas of what the world should be. How do you stop a guy with that level of power and forethought?

MARVEL.COM: Avengers: Armageddon promises to shake things up for Earth’s Mightiest Heroes just like Disassembled did. Anything you can tease about the new Avengers era that will rise in its wake?

ZDARSKY: Oh man, well, it’s going to be pretty fractured, but when things are looking dark, someone will always step up. But what they’ll face will be wildly unexpected. Sorry, that’s vague, I know. But man, oh man, I’m pretty excited for people to see where we’re going!
