Biography

Biography

In an alternate reality, Miles Morales follows in the footsteps of the slain Peter Parker to become the masked Super Hero known as Spider-Man.

Splitting his time between fighting crime and managing his teenage personal life, Morales has to hide his identity from his parents, but confides in his best friend Ganke and other trustworthy members of the Super Hero community.

Where the original Spider-Man lived by his Uncle Ben's maxim, "With great power comes great responsibility," Miles Morales adds the addendum, "What would Peter Parker do?"

Brooklyn Beginnings

In Miles' original reality, Norman Osborn, AKA the Green Goblin, seeks to recreate the circumstances that had created his arch nemesis Peter Parker, AKA Spider-Man. In his efforts at Oscorp, a genetically enhanced spider known as specimen 42 is unknowingly stolen by the high-tech thief and Miles’ uncle Aaron Davis, AKA Prowler. Miles has a relationship with his uncle, one Miles' parents, Jefferson Davis and Rio Morales, neither approved nor were aware of due to his life of crime.

One day, while visiting his uncle to tell him about winning a lottery to enroll at the prestigious Brooklyn Visions Academy, Miles suffers a bite by the burglarized spider. Upon discovering that the bite endows him with superhuman abilities, Miles has a brief early brush with super-heroics when saving people from a burning building. After talking things over with his close confidante Ganke Lee, however, Miles decides that this life wasn't for him.

Later, Miles sneaks out of school to watch the Green Goblin and Spider-Man have their climactic battle, which sees both of them perish at the other's hand. Blaming himself for not using his powers to help Peter, Miles attends his funeral, where Gwen Stacy relays Uncle Ben's lesson that with great power comes great responsibility. Initially, he’s inspired to fight crime in a makeshift Halloween costume version of the Spider-Man outfit, but when he proves himself to S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent Jessica Drew, AKA Spider-Woman, the agency gifts him a new uniform, thus beginning his official career as the new Spider-Man.

Arachnid Abilities

Miles possesses similar spider-based abilities as Peter Parker; he has the proportionate strength, speed, stamina, durability, and reflexes of a spider. He can lift up to 10 tons, leap several stories, move much faster than the average human, and is generally more resistant to injury or fatigue than normal people. He can also stick to walls by his fingertips and feet, enabling him to crawl along surfaces and buildings. Thanks to his spider-sense, he can perceive dangers around him before he can see or hear them.

However, unlike Peter Parker, he also has the power to direct a bio-electric charge like a sting, including the ability to stun enemies with a "venom blast" and strike with concussive force. He can also camouflage himself to the point of invisibility.

A Spider’s Foes

Sadly, the first true foe Miles faces is his own uncle, the Prowler, whose criminal lifestyle forces Miles to take a stand against. They have a tough relationship but it eventually leads to one of understanding and Aaron attempts to turn his life around at Miles’ persistent suggestion.

MIles also tussles with his fair share of other baddies as well. He fights Omega Red, Kangaroo, Dr. Conrad Marcus, AKA Venom, and Norman Osborn, AKA Green Goblin as well as Quentin Beck, AKA Mysterio, from another reality, that of Earth-616. During his time while working alongside the new Ultimates, he also helps bring down Scourge and the Serpent Society.

Trusted Allies

Miles' closest ally is his best friend Ganke Lee, who keeps Miles’ secret identity safe. He also aligns himself with a variety of other heroes, from his reality such as Spider-Woman and his teammates in the former new Ultimates. He develops a bond with both the Peter Parker from his own universe, and Peter Parker, AKA Spider-Man, when displaced to Earth-616, who becomes like a big brother to him.

When Earth-616 becomes his permanent home, he trains with Parker and joins the Avengers. But when the events of the second Civil War lead him to doubt the older Super Hero community, he leaves the Avengers. He instead allies himself with his teammates Kamala Khan, AKA Ms. Marvel and Sam Alexander, AKA Nova, to co-found the Champions. They add the super-smart and Hulk-like Amadeus Cho, AKA Brawn, the synthezoid Viv Vision, and a time-displaced Scott Summers, AKA Cyclops, to their ranks.

It didn't take long for Miles' uncle Aaron to figure out who this new Spider-Man was under the mask. So, as the Prowler, Aaron approached Miles in an attempt to get his help taking down the villain known as the Scorpion. But after Miles figured out that his uncle was using him to take out his competition, he refused to help him any further. Aaron then threatened to reveal Miles' secret to his father Jefferson, leading to a fight between the two that resulted in Aaron's apparent death after a piece of his Prowler tech malfunctioned.

In the aftermath, his father, Jefferson, blamed Spider-Man for his brother's death, pushing Miles even further away from revealing himself to his parents, and leading Spider-Man to be considered a murderer in the press. Despite this difficulty, Peter Parker's Aunt May, Gwen Stacy, and Mary Jane Watson reached out to Miles, giving him Pete's old web shooters as encouragement.

May, Gwen, and Mary Jane giving Miles Peter's web shooters

Miles received the opposite reaction from Captain America, however, who was still racked with guilt over Peter Parker's death and didn't want to see Miles go down the same path. But Miles ultimately won Cap over, and he decided to train this new wall crawler. But, that training was cut short when Captain America was elected President and Spider-Man joined the Ultimates in battling Hydra. In the ensuing fight, Jefferson ended up killing some Hydra agents who got in his way trying to reach Miles and his wife. The incident left Jefferson despondent.

When the Peter Parker from the prime universe (Earth-616) joined Miles' reality, he teamed up with Miles to defeat the Mysterio from Parker's timeline, who had come to this alternate Earth hoping to break his streak of crushing defeats. The adventure proved formative for Miles, as Peter told him he was proud of him for taking up the mantle.

Later, the Daily Bugle reporter Betty Brant began investigating Spider-Man and incorrectly concluded that Jefferson was under the mask, instead of Miles. While trying to find the new Spider-Man, Dr. Conrad Marcus, AKA Venom, killed Brant and attacked Jefferson. Miles was able to save his father, but during the conflict, police accidentally shot his mother, Rio. As she died, Miles revealed to his mother that he was in fact Spider-Man. She told him she was proud of him, but begged him never to tell his father. Racked with guilt, Miles gave up the mantle soon after.

After a year of not being Spider-Man and losing Ganke's confidence over quitting, Miles began dating Kate Bishop, a secret Hydra member. Spider-Woman revealed to Miles that she was in fact a clone of Peter Parker and that Peter would not want him to quit his life as a Super Hero. This lead to Miles donning the mask again before teaming up with her and Lana Baumgartner, AKA Bombshell, to confront the Roxxon Corporation about their illegal activities and superhuman experiments.

When Galan, AKA Galactus, from the prime reality came to this one, destroying New Jersey, Miles tried to save his father as Spider-Man. But, when Jefferson wanted nothing to do with him, he revealed his true identity. Jefferson blamed his son for the death of his wife and brother, before a plane crash separated the two. Miles saved Daily Bugle publisher J. Jonah Jameson from the wreckage. Jameson, feeling guilt for how he treated the deceased Peter Parker, promised to repay Spider-Man for saving his life. Jefferson, though, was nowhere to be found when Miles made it home.

Miles revealing himself to his dad

Not long after the Galactus catastrophe and the subsequent death of Captain America, the Ultimates disbanded, paving the way for Spider-Woman to form a new team without S.H.I.E.L.D. backing, focused on street-level criminal activities. She enlisted Miles, Kitty Pryde, Bombshell, and Cloak and Dagger, two other subjects of Roxxon's experiments. Together, the team battled the Serpent Skulls street gang led by rogue S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Brock Rumlow, AKA Crossbones. Their team wasn't trusted or respected due to their youth and relative inexperience, but after taking on Scourge, a serial killer who hunted criminals, they were able to gain the trust of the local law enforcement.

When the time-displaced X-Men from the prime timeline arrived in this reality, Spider-Man introduced them to his reality's X-Men. After battling Doctor Doom, he also helped them get home. Spider-Man and Jessica Drew, at the time known as Black Widow, were then embroiled in a reality-spanning war when the Inheritors, a group that feasted on spider-powered people, attacked them. Spider-Man and Drew joined with other alternate-reality Spider-Men and Women to defeat the Inheritors. With this reality's S.H.I.E.L.D. gone following Galactus' attack, custody of a S.H.I.E.L.D. prison facility was transferred to the private sector. With the loosened security, Green Goblin, previously thought dead, easily escaped.

Meanwhile, Miles prepared to tell his girlfriend, Katie, that he was Spider-Man. Asking Mary Jane Watson for advice, Miles learned that Peter Parker was still alive and secretly living a normal life. Miles told Katie his secret, but she ran away in fear. The Green Goblin soon attacked Miles, angry someone else was Spider-Man, but Peter joined Miles in driving off the villain. As the Spider-Men regrouped, Osborn apparently murdered J. Jonah Jameson. Then Green Goblin attacked again, and in their rage, the Spider-Men apparently killed him. Peter then gave Miles his blessing to continue being Spider-Man before leaving with Mary Jane. That night, after a change of heart, Miles' dad returned home and reconnected with his son. Miles went to Katie's home to straighten out their relationship, but Katie's father attacked him, revealing himself as a Hydra agent and his family as Hydra members, including Katie. Hydra abducted Miles' family and friends and, with Doctor Doom's help, prepared to experiment on Miles to reverse engineer his spider powers. When Doom's tests accidentally triggered an explosive release of Miles' venom blast ability, Miles broke free. Simultaneously, the Ultimates tracked down Miles and helped him defeat Doctor Doom.

As Miles ended his relationship with Katie, the prime universe appeared in the middle of nearby space, turning the sky red, signaling an incursion between Earths during the collapse of the Multiverse. During a battle between the two Earths, Spider-Man hid aboard a life raft carrying The Cabal, a group of nihilistic beings who had slaughtered worlds in trying to stop the Multiverse's collapse. Surviving reality's destruction in the raft, Spider-Man eventually found himself on Battleworld, a planet created from reality's remnants by an all-powerful Victor von Doom, AKA Doctor Doom, of the prime reality, eventually encountering the Manhattan realm comprised of fragments of both realities.

Miles bumping into Peter

Alongside others who remembered the world before the God Emperor Doom remade it in his own image, Miles helped convince Battleworld's inhabitants to rebel against their ruler. He teamed with the Peter Parker from the prime timeline and Reed Richards, AKA Mister Fantastic, as well as Reed Richards, AKA the Maker, from Earth-1610 to sneak into Doom's castle and investigate the source of his power, where they found Owen Reece, AKA Molecule Man, hidden beneath Doomstadt.

The Molecule Man asked for something to eat and, somewhat surprisingly, Miles had a hamburger in his pocket, which he gave him. Little did Miles realize but the Molecule Man was now in Miles' debt. After Doom was defeated, Miles woke up in the newly rebuilt prime reality, where it appeared he had always lived, with his father and his no longer deceased mother, as well as all of his friends. This was the Molecule Man's gift.

Miles and Molecule Man's life-changing interaction

Over time, Miles got used to living in a new reality, if only because his life hadn't changed all that much. He was still a student at Brooklyn Visions Academy with Ganke and only his father knew about his double life as Spider-Man. This universe's Peter Parker had become his new mentor and he also joined a new team of Avengers.

Things were going well until the second Civil War when Ulysses Cain, an Inhuman precog, saw a vision interpreted to mean Miles would kill Steve Rogers, AKA Captain America, in the near future. Ultimately, that scenario didn't come to pass but it resulted in the death of Tony Stark, AKA Iron Man, whom Miles sided with during the Civil War. These events left Miles and other young heroes disillusioned with their forebears in the Super Hero community, so Miles left the Avengers and instead co-founded a new team dubbed the Champions with teenage Super Heroes Ms. Marvel and Nova. They were soon joined by Brawn, Viv Vision, and the time-displaced teenage Cyclops.

Miles and the Champions

Soon afterward, Miles began working with S.H.I.E.L.D. to track down his father Jefferson, who had joined the organization to protect his son, but had become lost in another universe, Earth-65. While investigating this universe, he met that reality’s Gwen Stacy, AKA Spider-Woman (later Ghost-Spider), and embarked upon a romance.

The pair soon went up against the evil Scorpion—that reality’s Jefferson Davis—but it led to Miles finally tracking down his dad. Together with Gwen, and a surprise help from Spider-Totems from across the Multiverse, they stopped the Scorpion who attempted to hold Multiverse hostage. Miles and Gwen saw a glimpse of their future in the form of their children from Earth-8, but decided to hold off on anything romantic, not wanting to be forced into something by fate. Miles and his dad returned to their realty where their disappearance did not go unnoticed by Miles’ mom, Rio. Miles and his dad shared their secrets with her, which she came to accept.

When an evil Captain America’s took over the United States with the help of Hydra, Miles and the Champions formed a resistance as part of the Underground movement against their hostile takeover. Miles joined Natasha Romanoff, AKA Black Widow—who planned to assassinate evil Cap—as a means to fulfill Cain’s premonition. The Champions and several others joined as well including Riri Williams, AKA Ironheart, Nadia Van Dyne, AKA the Wasp, and Sam Wilson, AKA Falcon. But Black Widow stopped Miles to prevent him from becoming like her which led to her death. Miles fought evil Cap, taking him down, but Nadia stepped in as the voice of reason, reminding him what Natasha had died for, and Miles restrained himself, deciding he wasn’t a killer. Miles and the Champions were captured but eventually freed themselves and join the final fight against evil Cap and Hydra. They defeated them, restoring things to normal.

Miles' new power: bio-electricity web threads

Afterward, Miles’ faced off with Antonio Rodriguez, AKA Armadillo, and during the fight, he shot bio-electric threads from his fingertips to his surprise. He next encountered the Iron Spider, who had reformed the Sinister Six . As they attempted to steal a S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier, Miles used his newfound powers against the Iron Spider who promptly himself as his Uncle Aaron. Miles was shocked and it allowed Aaron to knock him out. Miles awoke in Aaron’s apartment and Miles leapt to his feet, ready to pounce. He questioned his uncle since he had died in their universe. Aron admitted he didn’t know, that he had suddenly woken up in this new universe. Miles knew but didn’t reveal anything about the Incursion. Aaron wanted to start over and gave him a stern warning about not interfering in his affairs. The Champions joined Miles to battle the Sinister Six and Aaron as Iron Spider accused Miles of messing up his score. Defending himself, Miles informed him he was there to save him from his life of crime. The Champions defeated the Six, but Miles came out of the battle injured and suffering from a mysterious infection. In the dead of night, Aaron covertly visited Miles at his bedside, admitting that his nephew was right and that he could do better.

Recovered, Miles then fought Norman Osborn who had become Red Goblin after bonding with the Carnage Symbiote, to help Peter who had been badly wounded by him. Cindy Moon, AKA Silk, joined the fight but both Miles and Cindy ended up with symbiote steaks through their chests. Flash Thompson, AKA Agent Anti-Venom, arrived and though nearly defeated by the Red Goblin, was able to rush Miles and Cindy to the hospital where he protected their secret identities from the staff.

Miles teams up with Venom

When a massive Klyntar dragon was let loose on Midtown, Miles fought it and was saved by Eddie Brock, AKA Venom, whom Miles thought was the same thing that killed his mom in his original reality. They worked together to stop the dragon and Miles reluctantly agreed to use his Venom Strike to attack the dragon from the inside. The dragon seemed to explode into another form and what emerged from it was an avatar of Knull, the God of Symbiotes, carrying an incapacitated Miles. Miles came to and seeing Eddie in the hands of Knull, attacked. Knull wrapped both Miles and Eddie into his body and flew them to outer space and promptly dropped them. As they plummeted towards Earth, Venom sprouted wings to all of their shock. Venom dropped Miles on top of a nearby building and told him to keep his head down.

Later, Miles fought the Inheritors alongside Earth-65’s Gwen Stacy and the Spider-Army. Their fight led him to encounter the Enigma Force, which turned him into Captain Universe. With these new powers, he slayed Solus using the Sword Vigor, and with the Spider-Army, defeated the Inheritors by transforming them into babies.

Miles battles Solus with the Enigma Force

Miles soon became embroiled in the War of the Realms when the Dark Elf Malekith attacked Earth. Joining several other heroes under the name “Babysitter’s Club,” their mission, as handed down by the Asgardian Balder, was to protect Laussa Odinsdottir from Malekith’s Dark Council.

Returning to school at the Brooklyn Visions Academy, Miles balanced his life as a student and Super Hero, stopping Lonnie Lincoln, AKA Tombstone, by breaking up his gang and sending him to jail, and meeting Super Villain Adrian Toomes, AKA Vulture’s granddaughter, Tiana, AKA Starling. Miles then learned his parents were having a second child but was soon abducted by a faceless, blue-skinned teleporter. Miles awoke strapped to a table and experimented upon by the Assessor, who desired to explore the limits of Spider-Man’s powers. Miles resisted but the Assessor threatened his family. Thankfully, Miles’ dad and Uncle Aaron teamed up and liberated Miles. Making their escape, they fought the Assessor’s asset and teleporter Quantum, but Quantum suddenly disappeared. While Miles escaped with his life, he was not without trauma.

Miles and Prowler battle Scorpia

He soon turned seventeen and Miles’ life was still filled with heroes and villains, including the Green Goblin from his original universe who worked for Brooklyn’s up-and-coming crime boss, the mysterious Ultimatum, who also attacked him. Miles tracked Ultimatum, which led him to his Uncle Aaron who had returned to his Prowler guise and was about to shoot one of Ultimatum’s criminal rivals. Miles stopped the hit, which activated a bounty on Aaron’s head. They fought several Super Villains, incapacitating Aleksei Sytsevich, AKA Rhino, and several other assassins, but when things were looking dire, Starling intervened with an assist. Both Miles and Aaron then arrived at the hospital where his mother gave birth to his slightly premature sister, Billie.

Miles continued fighting foes alongside the Champions with Kamala as their leader, but when they went up against electro-magnetism manipulator Zzzax in Dubai, both Viv and Kamala were lost in the battle. Suddenly, the Hell-Lord Mephisto appeared with an offer to revive them at no charge to their souls. Amadeus, who held the lifeless Viv in his arms, was hesitant and flat out refused, but Miles remembered first meeting Ms. Marvel and how excited they both were to be working with the Avengers. He agreed to Mephisto’s offer who rolled back time, allowing Miles and Amadeus to prevent their deaths. Though they were all reunited, Miles and Brawn were the only ones who knew the truth, and little did they know that Miles’ choice left another dead in their wake. Miles couldn’t shake a memory of a girl named Faridah, whom he rescued in the first version of that day, who didn’t survive the second time around. Kamala followed Miles, suspicious of his behavior, and demanded answers. Miles revealed the truth to her that he and Amadeus got a cosmic do-over, and saved both her and Viv from their deaths, but that Faridah lost her life as a consequence. Crying, Kamala felt she had failed the team as leader but Miles saw it differently and he insisted she stay with the Champions and he quit the team instead, determined to figure out if he could life with the consequences of being Spider-Man.

Miles helps free Nova of Blackheart's corruption

Meanwhile, Mephisto’s son Blackheart started corrupting the Champions, forcing Miles back into the fold to help his friends. He helped free Nova of his Blackheart corruption by revealing his identity to him alongside Kamala and they reunited with Viv and attempted to save the others from corruption. It wasn’t until Miles unmasked himself and refused to let Blackheart break his spirit since he had already hit rock bottom from his recent choices, and it empowered the team to attack Blackheart. Mephisto then stepped in and ended the fight by punishing his son, who had ruined his well-laid plans of torment that were just getting started.

When part undead serial killer, part alien god Cletus Kasady, AKA Carnage, returned to claim codices—symbiote genetic material—Miles took on protecting a man with a codex from an army of Ravencroft Institute inmates under Carnage’s control. Miles was overwhelmed and made part of the red family. Dispatched with another Carnage-controlled person, murderer Happy Dan Andrews, they were ordered to kill J. Jonah Jameson. While Miles fought against the symbiote invader in his mind, his body arrived at Vulpe Communications Headquarters where J.J. was guarded by Silver Sablinova, AKA Silver Sable. As Miles’ mind rebelled, his body sunk its teeth into Jameson. Miles finally broke free with a Venom Blast only to face Happy Dan and a transformed J.J. whose body was invaded by the symbiote that had left Miles. Miles fought with J.J. and zapped him with his Venom Strike, which released the invader. He then willingly re-bonded with the invader to follow Carnage and stop his plans.

Miles bonds with Carnage symbiote

With the symbiote in tow, Miles was soon apart of a plot to kill Eddie Brock, but once Brock electrocuted him, Miles was free again. Brock had worked to destroy the codices thanks to a machine devised by the Maker (evil Reed Richards from parallel universe). Miles updated Brock on the situation that Carnage had all but one symbiote left to collect: Venom, which was currently bonded to the Hulk, a last-ditch attempt to defeat Carnage. But Carnage got what he wanted and stripped Hulk of the Venom symbiote before absorbing it for good.

When Miles was connected to Carnage, he learned that the machine the Maker built doesn’t extract and destroy codices, it collected them. Other heroes arrived to help and through ensuing chaos, Eddie broke into the machine and bonded with dozens of codices who had one goal: to stop Carnage. But no matter what anyone did, Knull was awakened.

Later, Miles fell through a portal, summoned to Earth-001, the location of the Web of Life and Destiny—the extradimensional nexus of thread where every universe exists. Since the Web was reborn after the battle with the vampiric Inheritors, Miles had become one of its three guardians, alongside Spider-Zero, the nomad spider with no world to call home, and Annie May Parker, AKA Patternmaker. Once Miles reached the Web, Spider-Zero explained that a corruption was spreading through it and Annie was the only person who could repair it but she had went missing. Miles teamed up with Spider-Zero to track down Annie. After collecting more Spider-folks from across the Multiverse, they found Annie tangled in the Web itself, which had grown a primitive consciousness and was in terrible pain, which explained the corruption. Before they could free Annie, the Web opened portals to Earth-51778 and brought monsters from that Earth to stop the Spider-folks from retrieving Annie. Meanwhile, Spider-Zero tried talking to the tangle while Miles attempted to retrieve Annie, falling through the tangle and finally finding her wrapped inside. Miles pushed Annie to the surface and upon arriving to the top, Annie untangled it as Spider-Zero reassured the tangle that it wasn’t alone.

In the wake of Coles Academic High School being destroyed, the U.S. passed a law that outlawed teenage Super Heroes. But the law didn’t stop Miles until he was evading law enforcers led by Dum Dum Dugan. Arriving at home, he found it ransacked and was promptly attacked by his doppelgänger, who ended up being an evil clone called Selim. They fought but ended up knocking each other out. Miles was then captured by the Assessor yet again. Miles soon came face to face with Ultimatum, the Miles Morales of Earth-616 an older, scarred man. Morales wanted to rid his world of the imposter Miles and his family so he could continue his drug trade by using a portal machine to send them back from whence they came. But Miles’ uncle Aaron, who had also been captured, escaped and knocked Ultimatum out. The nephew-uncle duo then fought Green Goblin from Earth-1610 and his Goblinoids. Several allies arrived, Starling, Bombshell, Captain America, and Miles’ father to assist in the fight. Miles defeated the Green Goblin but Ultimatum remained. While Miles battled Ultimatum, Aaron used his Prowler suit to overload and explode the portal machine and in the aftermath, Aaron, Ultimatum, and the Green Goblin were gone. Miles blamed himself for losing Aaron.

Miles then survived a run-in with some clones that the Assessor had created after experimenting on him. Miles and the benevolent clone Shift were able to walk away in one piece, with Shift saving Miles’ sister Billie’s life from Selim, but Miles’ costume wasn’t so lucky.

Miles' new suit

After he got a new suit, he made time for a little romance with Tiana Toomes. But they were soon ambushed by Anthony Masters, AKA Taskmaster, who wanted to deliver Tiana to the Beyond Corporation. Miles and Tiana outfought Taskmaster but Beyond served Miles with a trademark infringement on his use of his Super Hero identity since they had their own wall crawler, Ben Reilly, AKA Spider-Man, who helped Miles take down a baddie with similar tech to the Assessor’s. Miles then worked with his clone Shift and they shut down the Assessor for good, and beat back the Space Stone-powered Quantum on the way. Miles then came across extra-dimensional monitors and discovered that his Uncle Aaron was alive but lost in the Multiverse. Miles and Shift’s hunt through the Spider-Verse led them face-to-face with Ultimatum.

Though trapped between dimensions, Ultimatum saw an opportunity to fight Shift and Miles, eager to squash the pest that had his name. Miles destroyed parts of Ultimatum’s suit and demanded answers about his Uncle Aaron. Ultimatum ultimately shoved both Miles and Shift through a portal where he claimed he could hear Aaron’s voice. Miles and Shift soon saw a web unfolding before them of when they battled Selim but things changed, Miles lost and another portal appeared. Going through it, they landed in an alternate reality Brooklyn where Selim forged an empire and cut the city off from the rest of the world using a dimensional barrier. Miles and Shift finally located his Uncle thanks to freedom fighters General Ganke, his scientist Johnetta, and Miles’ grown-up sister, Billie.

Miles and Shift with Freedom Fighters

They freed Aaron and made their escape, but Selim and his soldiers descended upon them. After battling Miles and Aaron, Selim threatened to blow-up the building below them with an antimatter-based explosive laced in his uniform. General Ganke arrived and flew him to a safe distance above the city and the suit exploded. Miles then informed his sister of who she was to him and inspired by his story of hope, friendship, and community, reclaimed the spider symbol from Selim and became Spider-Smasher. Using the dimensional barrier that Selim employed to hold Brooklyn hostage, Johnetta helped Miles, Shift, and Aaron get home to their reality in one piece.

Miles continued to juggle his school and personal life with his responsibilities as a hero, son, and brother. But he soon had a rough battle with Mac Gargan, AKA Scorpion, ran afoul of Agent Gao’s anti-vigilante task force, and ended up suspended from school. He then faced a new villain Raneem Rashad, AKA Rabble, a student who didn’t win the Brooklyn Vision’s Academy lottery and one who knew his secret identity. Rabble captured Starling and Ganke, to lure Miles into a trap as a first step in her revenge plot, and then attacked Miles’ family. Private Detective Mercedes Knight, AKA Misty Knight, assisted him in a fight with Rabble, and Miles saved his family in the nick of time. While battling Rabble, he unexpectedly used his bio-electricity in a new way, forming it into a sword-like construct and it overloaded her armor.

Spider-Man uses bio-electricity construct against Rabble

Knight helped Miles and his family find temporary lodgings since their home was destroyed in the attack, and seeing Miles as such a good kid, offered him an internship.

When Kasady as Carnage returned, Miles found him at Todd’s Diner where everyone there was Kasady’s puppet. Kasady had rejected the Carnage symbiote and his soul inhabited the Extrembiote, which is part Stark Tech and part symbiote dragon. At the diner, Carnage bit Miles in the shoulder which left him feeling weak and on the run. He was soon attacked by Carnage again but this time, Scorpion suddenly intervened, who had his codex previously stolen from him by Carnage. Scorpion didn’t last long though, so Miles used his bio-electricity against Carnage, overloading his arc reactor, causing an explosion.

Miles felt grateful to have a spot at BVA and learning from his experience with Rabble, he wasn’t going to waste his opportunity there. He was also getting comfortable as Knight’s partner and employing her lessons while on patrol. Meanwhile, Kasady survived and infiltrated Stark Unlimited Tower to repair himself from the explosion, and used his new abilities to spread himself across the internet, infecting people of NYC and transforming them into homicidal puppets. Miles as Spider-Man allied with Agent Gao and her team of Super Villains, the Cape Killers, which included Scorpion, Francine Frye, AKA Electro, Taskmaster, and Hightail, to beat Kasady. Iron Man joined the fight, having had his tech stolen, and after Miles was injured in the battle, Iron Man healed him using nanite tech, which put him in a protective cast, in the form of a new suit.
