Biography

Biography

A Royal Skrull son without the shape-shifting abilities of his forbearers, Talos overcomes the ill-hand that heredity dealt him and becomes a fierce warrior worthy of his people. Boasting superhuman strength, he displays raw power and none is more feared or respected than Talos the Untamed.

Evolutionary Misfit

Born unable to shape-shift like other Skrulls, Talos would never have been allowed to reach maturity if he had not been part of the Royal Family. Determined to overcome his genetic disadvantage, he becomes a savage fighter and a decorated military commander. With cyborg parts (which eventually become necessary due to injuries) and enhanced strength, Talos develops a reputation as a feared and esteemed warrior known as “Talos the Untamed.”

Cybernetic Skrull Warrior

Though unable to shape-shift like other Skrulls, Talos has cybernetic parts granting him superhuman strength, able to lift at least two tons, and durability, both of which enable him to survive a fall from several hundred feet without injury. His skull’s left side and eye are replaced by cybernetic parts.

Due to years of training and studies, Talos is a dangerous fighter with knowledge of leverage, pressure points and the ability to determine any opponent’s weaknesses. Talos usually wields either a spiked club, which he can charge with energy through the circuitry in his right arm, or a large battle axe.

Fearsome Foes

Deemed by the Skrulls as the strongest mortal on Earth, Bruce Banner, AKA The Hulk, is thought worthy to fight Talos in a deadly face-off. But when he refuses Talos’ request to kill him in battle, he becomes unworthy.

Thomas Gideon, AKA Glorian, draws Talos and other powerful warriors to battle each other in a contest where Glorian plans to feed off of the resulting energy. Though Glorian becomes distracted by the Annihilation Wave and Talos escapes alongside the other adventurers.

Royal Family and Worthy Comrades

Talos has distant relatives and all from the Skrull Royal Family, such as his nephew Emperor Dorrek VII and Empress R'klll and their daughter Anelle; and Dorrek VIII/Teddy Altman, AKA Hulkling, the son of Anelle and the Kree Mar-Vell, AKA Captain Marvel. Talos also has a niece S’Byll, who unites the Skrull Empire after the Skrull-Kree war.

Talos and Devos the Devastator, another warrior under Glorian’s thrawl, helps Ronan the Accuser free Korath the Pursuer from Glorian, and they all join the United Front resistance to defend Daedalus 5 against the Annihilation Wave.

A Skrull’s Saga

After being captured in a cowardly ambush during the Kree-Skrull War, Talos failed to comply with Skrull guidelines to commit suicide when caught, and his reputation was tarnished. Following his release from Kree captivity, he was shamed and ridiculed by Skrulls as “Talos the Tamed.” The Skrull empress offered Talos the opportunity to redeem himself by committing suicide, but Talos refused, wanting to die in battle. Due to his shameful actions, he was banned from the battlefields of space, and there was no Skrull that would lower himself to duel Talos, depriving him of any chance to die with dignity.

Due to a fluke, Talos received a fake invitation from the Impossible Man to the wedding of Earth’s Rick Jones and Marlo Chandler. He attended the ceremony in Las Vegas, Nevada along with a Skrull contingent.

When a Kree warrior mocked Talos, he nearly started a fight, but Norrin Radd, AKA Silver Surfer, broke it up. After the ceremony, Talos was the only extraterrestrial to remain, soon getting drunk and jumping from a skyscraper to test Earth’s gravity. Encountering Rick Jones’ best man, Bruce Banner, Talos attacked him, having heard of Hulk’s battles with Kl’rt, AKA Super-Skrull, and the Troyjans’ Troh-Maw, AKA Trauma, and hoping the Hulk would kill him. As several Skrull warriors in an orbiting ship cheered for Talos’ defeat, the Hulk, upon learning Talos’ history, pretended to beg for his life to restore Talos’ honor. Talos was disgusted until he returned to his ship to find his fellow Skrulls newly loyal to him.

Though willing to serve Queen Veranke during her scheme to infiltrate Earth, Talos was considered of no use since he could not shape-shift. Chancellor Kal’Du never lost hope that Talos would be of use to Veranke after the Skrull invasion of Earth succeeded, but the attack failed, and Talos wasn’t sent to Earth. Instead, he was one of many powerful adventurers mentally drawn to the planet Godthab Omega and goaded into violence by the manipulative Glorian, who planned to feed off the energies released by fights between the adventurers to amplify his own powers.

Talos was defeated by Devos the Devastator, but Devos was stopped from killing him by the interference of Kree warrior Ronan the Accuser and cosmic assassin Gamora. Glorian then captured Talos and Devos, wanting them as witnesses for his re-creation of Godthab Omega, but he had to release them when Annihilus’ Annihilation Wave forces from the Negative Zone attacked the planet. Talos and Devos then aided Ronan and Korath the Pursuer in rescuing others from Glorian and the Annihilation Wave. Subsequently recruited into the United Front opposing the Wave, Talos helped defend planet Daedalus 5.
